Meet the Staff--Fargo

Stef Kaiser




Stef is the Program Administror of the Fargo Region's Kids Program.  She received her Bachelors degree in secondary education and Masters degree in speech pathology from Minnesota State University Moorhead.  Steff has worked with children and adults in a variety of settings; clinics, schools, daycares and homes in Fargo and surrounding area.  She has training in the Sequential - Oral - Sensory (SOS) approach to feeding by Kay Toomey.  Steff is also a certified member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed in North Dakota.  She has been married for 15 years.  Steff  has four children ranging in age from 5 to 13.  They keep her busy attending afterschool activities.  In her free time, Stef likes to read and spend time with her family.

Andrea Benson



Andrea graduated from Concordia College Moorhead, MN with her Bachelor's in Nursing and recieved her Master's in Occupational Therapy from the University of South Dakota. Andrea was a SD SEND trainee and completed one year specialized training in interdisciplinary teamwork, developing professionals for leadership, and learning to provide developmentally appropriate services for children (i.e. infants through adolescents) with neurodevelopment and related disabilities. She loves to work with children and their families and has focused most of her work experience with kids from birth to elementary age. She is married and has a little boy. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors, especially at the lake, and spending time with family and friends.

Crystal Ennen




Crystal received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from Minnesota State University Moorhead.  She has worked with children and families as a respite care provider, toddler teacher, and also as a special education teacher.  She has many years of experience working with individuals with special needs of all ages in both residential and vocational settings.  She has attended several trainings for professional development throughout Minnesota and North Dakota.  Crystal is happy to be a part of the Southeast KIDS Program as it supports her philosophy that parents are a child's first and best teachers.  She is married, loves animals, and enjoys reading, thrift stores, and hanging out with family, friends, and her 3 dogs.

Kayla Parker




Kayla has a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education with emphasis areas in Early Childhood Special Education and Developmental Disabilities. She has worked with children who have disabilities from age’s birth to 21. Kayla enjoys spending time with her friends and family in her spare time. She also enjoys doing outdoor activities such as playing tennis, biking, rollerblading, and fishing.

Marcy Huck



Marcy Huck received a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and Family Science from NDSU. She is currently working on her Master’s in Early Childhood Special Education from Minot State University. Marcy has worked in the field of developmental disabilities for many years. Her past experiences include working at a job training facility for adults with developmental disabilities. While working for this program, Marcy was the director of their child care center that had three individuals with developmental disabilities employed at the site. Marcy was also an Adult Foster Care Provider was an individual with developmental disabilities for thirteen years. Marcy’s areas of interest include child brain development, early literacy and working with parents who have developmental disabilities.

Kathie Kottenbrock



Kathie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mary. After graduation she was a classroom teacher in the primary grades for several years. When Kathie decided to return to the education field, she attended MSUM for a master’s degree in special education with Early Childhood Special Education. Kathie is presently working on her master’s thesis in the area of emergent literacy birth to three. She began working with the SE KIDS Program in May, 2007. While employed by the KIDS Program, Kathie received training in Positive Behavior Supports, Play Based Assessment and administering hearing screenings, to name a few. Kathie is presently involved in an on-going project with Juliann Woods from Florida State University on Routines Based Intervention.

Kylie Petsinger





Kylie graduated from St. Cloud State University with her bachelor's degree in Psychology.  She is currently in her last semester of graduate school where she
will obtain her Masters of Science degree in Early Childhood/Special Education from Minot State University.  Kylie has attended numerous trainings across the state of North Dakota, and  has been provided with much experience working with children with behavioral concerns, speech and language delays, motor delays and other developmental disorders.  In her free time, Kylie enjoys spending time with her family in Minnesota, traveling, fishing and reading.

Jacky Mergner




 

Jacky graduated from UND with a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.  Her special interests include: routine based intervention, sensory integration, premature births and oral motor techniques.  Jacky is married and has a daughter who was born 3 1/2 months early.  She enjoys reading, going to the lake, spending time with family/friends and traveling.

Micki Peterson




 

Micki grew up near Maplewood State Park (many, many years ago!!)  She completed the Medical Secretarial and Licensed Practical Nursing at Fergus Falls Community College.  Micki holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education.  That degree was earned at what is now Minnesota State University Moorhead.  She is currently working on her Master's Degree in Special Education through Minot State University.  Micki has two adult children and an amazing one year old grandson that she doesn't get to see nearly enough! When she is not working, studying or making up excuses to go see her grandson in St. Cloud, Micki enjoys knitting, cross stitch, cooking, baking and reading.

Sandy Roe



Sandy holds a Masters Degree in Special Education in with an emphasis in Early Childhood Special Education. She has a Bachelors Degree in Child Development and Family Science. Sandy is licensed in Early Childhood Special Education.  She has received training and has experience in Family Centered Routine Based Interviews, Evidence Based Practices, Family Centered Services in Natural Environments, Poverty and Family Issues, Sensory Stratagies to Increase Learning and Improve Behavior and Coaching and Consultation.  Sandy has conducted research and written papers about enhancing caregiver participation in early intervention using natural learning opportunities. Sandy is currently involved in an on-going project with Dr. Juliann Woods from Florida State University on Family Guided Routine Based Early Intervention.

Beth Schaible



Beth graduated in 1981 from UND with a Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy. She is trained in S.O.S., Feeding Approach, Cranial-Sacral Therapy, Kinesiotaping and the M.O.V.E. program.  Beth has been a certified Infant Massage Instructor since 1995.  She has a lot of experience in Adaptive Equipment with regards to use and fitting.  Beth has added training in Sensory Integration, Routines - Based Interveiws and Vision Techniques.  Beth and her husband Calvin live in Fargo.  They have 2 grown children.  In her free time she enjoys reading, gardening and travel.

Christine Soukup



Christine received her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) and Moderate/Severe Mentally Impairment (MSMI) from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She is currently on her last semester at Minot State University for her Masters in Early Childhood Special Education.  Christine has gone to many workshops/conferences on Autism, Sensory Intergration and Behavior issues. She has been married 9 years to Brandon and has 4 children ranging from 14 to 2. Christine enjoys spending time with her family. The kids keep her busy running to and from activities such as basketball, swimming and dance. Christine also enjoys scrapbooking, playing volleyball and being outside.

Vicky Whitcomb



Vicky has a Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology from Truman State University in Kirksville,   Missouri.  She has worked in early intervention and public schools in Iowa and Minnesota, and at the Developmental Center in Grafton.  Vicky has a special interest in early childhood language disorders, hearing impairments  and cleft/lip and palate.  She has four grown children and two grandsons.  Vicky enjoys making jewelry, knitting, scrapbooking and reading.

Angie Villarreal



Angie graduated with her Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology at Minnesota State University of Moorhead.  Angie has a special interest in working with the pediatric population.  Angie enjoys providing therapy services in a child's everyday, natural environment.  She enjoys bowling, reading, dancing and spending time with her family.
